Guided by the question: what shall we do while we are here? studio EARTHSIDE creates space and sparks remembrance, imagination, and connection.

studio EARTHSIDE is the regenerative development studio of Florida Water Interiors that imagines and creates places and spaces where land, housing, food, design, and collective care come together so people can flourish.

A new model of community is taking root in New York's Hudson Valley, honoring the ancestral homelands of the Mahican (Mohican) people and the enduring relationship between land, memory, and community.

FOOD + SHELTER

FOOD + SHELTER is studio EARTHSIDE's flagship initiative.

Centering Black families, and particularly Black single mothers, the project imagines neighborhoods where thoughtfully designed homes, shared food systems, regenerative land stewardship, collective care, and shared remembrance create the conditions for long-term wellbeing, belonging, and stability.

More than a neighborhood, FOOD + SHELTER is a living model exploring what becomes possible when we intentionally design communities around human flourishing.

Why

My life's work has always been about creating spaces where people can flourish.

I began as an educator, creating classrooms where young people felt seen, safe, and inspired. That work expanded into community organizing, public art, and interior design. Along the way, I realized I wasn't simply interested in designing rooms.

I was interested in designing the conditions that allow people to thrive.

That realization led to FOOD + SHELTER.

Space Holds Memory

We believe space holds memory.

The spaces we inherit shape us, and the spaces we create shape those who come after us.

Regenerative development begins by honoring that relationship, creating places that restore, connect, and nourish both people and the land.

Looking Ahead

FOOD + SHELTER is currently in its early vision and development phase.

Upcoming work includes land stewardship, architectural design, public exhibitions, community storytelling, and cultivating partnerships to bring this vision to life.
